006 // Papercuts [Video]

[Once again it's Yuuki in her room, though this time she appears to be surrounded by colored paper.
A turn, a tuck. If she were concentrating on this any more, she'd have her tongue sticking out of her mouth.
And then, she's finished it. She holds the product of her concentration up, studying it.

That's right folks, Yuuki's made herself an origami frog.]

This one actually didn't turn out so bad!

Dream Post #3 | I want to know is your life like you dreamed?

"Ah, Yuuki-chan, what are you doing up?"

Yuuki rubs at her eyes with the back of a hand, blinking up at the man leaning over her. Anyone familiar with him would know his face immediately - Kaien Cross, Yuuki's adoptive father. His hand strokes over the top of her head, his expression softly worried.
She shook her head a little. "I couldn't sleep."
Kaien sighs out lightly, then kneels down before her. "Hmm, still? Are you having nightmares then?"
Again she shakes her head. It wasn't a nightmare exactly, it was... a feeling of disquiet. Unable to sit still, a nervousness she couldn't rid herself of.
The man strokes her head a moment more, then gathers her up into his arms easily. She tenses just a little, then relaxes in his arms, leaning her head over on his shoulder. She clearly felt him to be a comforting presence, even if she was still timid.
"Hmmm, haven't you heard the story of Sleeping Beauty, Yuuki-chan?"
She thinks on that a moment. Had she ever? Kaien was fond of telling her fairy tales, particularly when she couldn't sleep. "Uh-uh."
And so, Kaien settles into a chair near the lit fireplace and starts in on the tale. His voice is warm, low enough to be calming and full of affection. He tells her of a princess, her fairy godmothers and the one jealous fairy. He tells her of the prick of a needled and the enchanted sleep that follows. A sleep that could only be ended with true love's first kiss.

By the time he reached the conclusion, Yuuki is utterly enraptured by the story. She tugs on the neckline of his turtleneck, brown eyes round as she blinks up at his downward glance. "She woke up, right?"
Kaien flashes a smile full of amusement at the little girl. "Oh yes! Her prince woke her up and they lived happily ever after." His smile dims a little, the light of the fire reflecting off the rim of his glasses as he adds in a more serious tone. "Sometimes though, happiness isn't as quick for other Sleeping Beauties out there."
"There's more than one Sleeping Beauty?"
"Many of them! Every little girl is a sleeping beauty... well, in one way or another."
"Am I a Sleeping Beauty too?"
And now Kaien returns to his big, beaming smile. "You, my little Yuuki-chan, are the most beautiful one of them all."

...
[Yuuki laughs brightly before covering her mouth with a hand.]
I think the Chairman liked the fairy tales more than I did sometimes.

005 // I know my calculus

[Books. Books everywhere. And in the center of them is a slim, girlish figure in a soft white dress.
The Dreamberry appears to be propped on top of one of these book stacks, looking down on the figure. Her long brown hair pools over her back and down her sides as she lays there on her stomach.
One can barely make out the book she is currently reading from around the back of her head - that is until her head droops in defeat. It looks to be a math workbook.]

I give up.

Dream Post #2 | My tiny prayer falls...

"Mama! Look, look!"

"Hmm?" comes a soft voice.
A rather tiny Yuuki is hauled up into a waiting lap, the little girl clinging on tightly to the piece of paper she holds.
Ceremoniously it goes into her own lap and long-fingered, slender hands move forward to hold it's edges as the arms encompass her.

"And what's this~"

Yuuki tilts her head back as much as she can, considering a chin is propped atop her head now. Then she begins pointing. "That's Mama. And that's papa. And that's oniisama!"

"A very good likeness, I have to say!"
The little girl shakes her head a bit. "Mmm. Mama is much prettier."
"You're as bad as your father," the woman replies with a soft laugh. "But what about the other people, hm?"

The transition is easy. An older Yuuki furrows her brow, looking over to her mother. "Other..."
"The ones in your picture."
Yuuki looks down to the mentioned picture, still being held by those slim hands in her lap. And like that, she recognizes them instantly.
"That's Zero and that's the Headmaster."
"Good job, Yuuki! It looks like you've got all of your family here! And what a big family too~"

"... Mmm. But..."
"Yuuki?"
"Mother?..."
The woman's arms fit closer around the young girl and finally her face is viewable as her cheek presses to Yuuki's own.

"Family is family no matter what."

And Yuuki breaks into a big smile. "Family is family. No matter what."

[Yuuki stirs after a moment, sitting up with her long hair in an amazingly curled, ruffled mass.
Rubbing at one eye, she seems almost solemn.]

[The video cuts on to an instant clatter. Hi, Yuuki's just dropped her Dreamberry. :|]

Ah! I didn't break it, did I?

[Flip, flip, flip. She's looking it over, under, sideways...
Then she heaves out a breath.]

Good, I..

[And now she notices that it's recording. She laughs sheepishly, scratching at her cheek as she sweats.]

Sorry about that, everyone...

[There is a mass of brown flooding the screen. Then it shifts away and when things come back into proper focus, it appears to be a long brown ponytail. The longer side-bangs are clipped back when she turns back.
She doesn't see the camera though. She appears to be scrutinizing a book, her brow heavily furrowed as she leans against a counter.

Then comes a noise from off screen. Yuuki's head turns and she blinks a bit, then her eyes grow wide as she ruses off camera.]

Wait! No don't..

[Cue the clattering and banging.]

That's... [And now, have a long sigh.] Well, I can still do this, I just... alright, I can't let this boil over so..

Dream Post #1 // Snow

Weak. That's how she felt at that moment.
Her knees gave out and the brunette knelt to the ground with a forceful drop. She didn't seem to notice the impact though.

She leaned forward, hands settling palm flat into the snow. The thick mounds of red snow around her. Not the bright red of fresh blood--the deep red of dried blood, blood that had been lingering in the air for some time.

Her head swam, fingers digging into the ground. These sorts of things.. They had stopped. The world was no longer dyed red for her, so why..
She remembered, didn't she? So..
"Maybe.. it will never go away."

002 // Our Once Glorious Garden~ [Video]

[The feed clicks on and, at first, it's merely the face of a young woman. She appears to be holding the Dreamberry quite close to her face.]

... Is it on? I didn't break it, did I?! I knew I shouldn't have dropped it yesterday!

[Finally it backs away for the rest of her face to be revealed. Her long brown hair is a weaving mass all around her and she gives the camera a cheerful smile. It seems more put-on than really felt though.]

Thank you everyone who helped me when I first woke up here. I'm... not really sure I understand still but. ..Well, I'll try my best! I can't mope now. I have to be strong. I have to learn to do things for myself. Because..

Ah, anyhow, I just... I've seen a lot of things on the network. I'm sorry for the way I reacted to the blood, it just.. mm..
Are they people's .... dreams? Am I understand that right? I can't imagine anyone looking at my dreams..

OOC - Profile

[Character Name] Yuki Kuran
[Canon] Vampire Knight (Mangaverse)

[Age] 15
[Gender] Female
[Sexual Orientation] Heterosexual.

[Eye Color] Reddish-brown.
[Hair Color] Brown.
[Height]
[Other] Any other significant physical features, like missing an eye or something.
[Clothing]

Naturally this might change after she has been in Somarium for a while. Expect her to wear plenty of muted colors though - whites, blues, black, purples and crimsons in particular. She also seems more prone to dresses and skirts than pants or shorts.

[Background]
When Yuuki was five, she awoke in a snow-covered field with no memories of the past and no idea of who she was. Instead she was face to face with snow, something she barely knew, and a vampire wanting her blood. Mere moments later, Kaname Kuran, a pureblood vampire, saves her from being bit. And this is how Yuuki's life begins.
Kaname brings Yuuki to Kaien Cross, a former vampire hunter, and the man adopts her into his home. He gives her the name of Yuki, stating that there once was a beautiful snow princess by that name and since she was found in the snow and beautiful as well, he would name her that.
Years passed and Yuuki grew to adore Kaname. Kaien took in another orphan - Zero Kiryuu. Zero was from a long family line of vampire hunters and his parents, as well as twin brother Ichiru, had been wiped out by a pureblood vampire. Yuuki plays a crucial part in healing a lot of Zero's trauma and, for that, the boy comes to adore Yuuki. Due to Kaname's nature as a vampire and Yuuki's own adoration for the teen, Zero quickly develops a grudge against him.
Eventually, Kaien Cross sets up an alternate class within his school, Cross Academy - the Night Class composed solely of vampires from most of the families of noble vampires. Here Kaien hopes that humans and vampires can learn to peacefully coexist through the experiences and teaching of the younger generation of vampires. Due to the hierarchy of vampiric society, Kaien turns to Kaname, as a pureblood, to aid him in controlling the Night Class and seeing to it that his dreams have a chance of being realized.

Life passes until Zero bites Yuki one day, thanks to a wound on Yuuki's hand awakening his bloodlust. Zero had been bitten during his family's brutal slaying; a bite from a pureblood vampire will turn a human into a vampire. It's not a glamorous turning though; most descend into madness and are consumed utterly by their bloodlust. And once they fall to Level E, this is where the Hunter's Association steps in.
This bite sends the rest of the domino pieces toppling. Yuki begins offering her blood to Zero to prevent him from becoming a Level E and this incurs even more of Kaname's ire. One way that a human bitten by a pureblood may prevent this falling to a Level E is by drinking the blood of the pureblood who turned them. Shizuka offers to give Zero her blood in exchange for Yuuki's. The teen readily agrees, desperate to save Zero, but is stopped by the teen himself. Kaname, however, ends up killing Shizuka and drinks her blood, a taboo among vampires. He then offers his own blood to Zero and thus prevents his fall, as well as granting Zero additional strength from Kaname's own pureblood blood.

Things come to a head when Yuuki becomes troubled by the gap in her memories. Before Zero joined their household, Yuuki suffered constantly from horrific nightmares. She goes to Kaname, asking to know what he knows about her past and the teen states he will only tell her if she agrees to become his lover. He still skirts around the question however and frustrated, Yuuki takes it within her own hands to try and remember. This attempt at remembrance soon awakens those old nightmares of Yuuki's and she once again finds the world bloodstained. Kaname is soon forced to act when others attempt to give her unknown blood.

That is when the truth comes to light: Yuuki is a pureblood vampire herself, her nature and memories sealed by her mother Juuri before the woman's death. Her memories and true nature are restored when Kaname drinks from her and, in turn, passes on his own blood to her. Yuuki was raised from birth to five years old in a windowless, hidden set of rooms. Unknown to the vampiric community, Yuuki was kept hidden to prevent her uncle Rido from using her as a tool or breaking her as he did with her brother, Kaname. Kaname himself is not her true brother but the soul of the Kuran's ancestor trapped within her brother's body. The specifics are unknown - however, as he is, he cannot betray or kill Rido himself since Rido was the one who raised him from the dead.
Yuuki is also Kaname's intended wife. Marriage between pureblood brothers and sisters is a very common thing within vampires, mostly to keep purebloods truely pure. Yuki and Kaname's own parents were brother and sister and the pair were raised as one another's fiance.

With her return to her vampiric nature, Yuuki begins to sense the return of her uncle Rido and exhibits an uncontrollable surge in her own powers. She confronts Zero, trying to break things off for his good by telling him the vampire side of herself ate the human Yuuki.
The final confrontation with Rido ends with Yuuki scoring the killing blow on her uncle with the Artemis Rod, her anti-vampire weapon, which turned into a scythe due to it's rejection of her vampiric nature. Zero tells Yuuki about his romantic feelings for her, to which Yuuki responds that she desires no one's blood besides Kaname's. Zero then tells her that the next time he sees her, he will kill her as he intends to rid the world of all pureblood vampires. Yuuki replies that she will continue running from Zero so that he will have a reason to live. After this she runs off to rejoin Kaname and the pair leave Cross Academy, Yuuki bearing the heavy pain of having to be Zero's enemy with the knowledge that what must be must be and she will carry on regardless.

[Personality]
Yuuki is generally a very cheerful character. She will often to her best to put others at ease and will do what she can to make everyone get along with each other. This sometimes means taking the burden of blame onto herself and she doesn't seem to mind this in the least if it is for the good of others.
She is very empathetic as well. It is not unusual for Yuki to tear up over a sad story or for the plight of others. As Kaname once put it, "She has a heart that is far too big." For Yuuki, pain is not something she enjoys seeing others go through and she will go out of her way to make sure others do not have to go through painful things. She isn't a stupid girl though - she often acknowledges that pain is a part of life. However, it doesn't seem to stop her from trying to shield others from as much pain as she can and from crying when they do experience it.
Yuuki is a very gentle and comforting person at heart, despite her rather comedic reactions and her persistent stubbornness. She seems to be the only one who can get either Kaname or Zero to relax. Even the others, to some degree, are not immune from the effects of her warm concern for others and her comforting nature. This does make her Guardian duties at the Academy a little more tricky though since Yuki does not have the sternness and force to really make herself heard and obeyed - at least to humans.

Once her vampiric side was awakened, Yuuki changed somewhat. The blanks in her memory were now filled in and Yuuki could not deny the past or her feelings for her brother, Kaname. This knowledge of her vampiric side brought not only relief for the blanks being filled but a deep, aching guilt over how it now drove a wedge between her and Zero. While she does not seem to regard Zero romantically (or does she?), Yuki certainly feels a lot for the teen she has shared part of her life with and greatly mourns the loss of that friendship.

The very act of having to move on from this attachment, acknowledging that what must be done differs from what her heart truly wants to do, is a step in maturity for Yuki. With it Yuuki comes to realize that she must find the strength within herself to move on not only for Kaname and Zero but for herself as well. She also cannot count on Zero to be there to catch her when she falls like he has so often done in their childhood and beyond.
Her newfound vampiric heritage and memories bring a certain sort of tempering to that cheerfulness and comedy of hers. She is still bright, still cheerful and probably still a klutz but there is something of a subdued, softer shade to it now.

[Specialties/Abilities]

[Affection]
Yuuki is rather shy when it comes to physical affections. Even with those closest to her, she will blush and become embarrassed when embraced or held. This may change in time as she grows used to such embraces and closeness. In a way, it has already changed with Kaname himself, particular after her memories of their childhood are revived.
She does, however, give affection when it is needed. Hugs to comfort others are not unknown, though perhaps tentative unless Yuuki herself is very moved.

[Fighting]
As always, please ask before you attempt to do Yuuki in.
It should be noted though that now that her vampiric side has been revived, Yuki will not be an easy kill or an easy fight. She often charges into a fight, when necessary, with her Artemis Rod. It's rejection of her vampiric nature causes it to turn into a scythe when she wields it.

As time passes and Yuuki grows more into her powers, expect to see the teenager gain quite a bit more fighting prowess.

[Other Facts]
The mun loves angst.
